Each year Program Directors from the Ophthalmology Residency Programs at the Medical College of Wisconsin and the University of Wisconsin-Madison each identify two residents, one with an outstanding research abstract and one with a unique case to compete for the annual awards.
Residents who have been nominated for the competition each submit their cases or abstracts and are invited to present at the Wisconsin Eye MD Symposium. After all presentations are complete, one winner for outstanding research abstract and one for best case presentation is selected by a vote of all ophthalmologist attendees and presented with the annual WAO Resident Achievement Award.
